MereIdea Wiki:Privacy policy
This policy describes what data is collected by the MereIdea Wiki, how it is stored, and how it is used. When you provide personal information to the MereIdea Wiki, you agree for that information to be used in accordance with this policy.
Personal Information Collected
Depending on the actions of a user and whether they are registered or not, the following information may be gathered about users:
- IP address
- User name
- Real name
- Password
- Email address
Much of this information is provided by you when you register to use the MereIdea Wiki.
How personal information is stored
The information about a user is stored in a MediaWiki generated database. The contents of this database are only accessible to members of the MereIdea administrative team.
While most of the data is stored in the database in plain text, passwords are encrypted. The administrative team do not have access to the decrypted versions.
How personal information is used
The information provided to the MereIdea Wiki is used only for the wiki, and no other part of MereIdea Ltd. No information is disclosed outside MereIdea Ltd except in one or more of the following cases:
- it is required by law, or a compulsory request, such as subpoena, is made by law enforcement agencies
- we have gained your explicit permission to release information
- it is necessary in connection with the investigation of an abuse complaint
- the user has been vandalizing articles or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, when data may be released to a service provider, carrier, or other third-party entity to aid investigation
- it is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of the MereIdea Ltd, users or the public
For users who are registered and edit pages, user names and IP addresses may be displayed in the history of a given page. This history is publicly viewable.
Your personal information may also be used in gathering page statistics for the wiki.
